A Possible Solution to War, Unemployment, Recessions & Debt.

Liberalism. Communism. Conservatism. Socialism. Capitalism…

So many isms and so little time! How to choose? Well… maybe we don’t have to.

I’m a writer. I’m also a dreamer. One of the most exciting days in my life was when the USA launched a man into space, and then got him back alive. A people who can do something like that… well… what CAN’T such people do?

We can’t seem to do peace.

We can’t seem to make and live within a budget.

Some of us can’t seem to tend only to their own business and to leave other people’s business alone.

Okay. So there are a lot of things that we can’t seem to do.

Above when I said I am a dreamer, I wasn’t kidding. My dream is that the people of the world will unite under one idea and work together toward achieving it. That would take quite an idea, though. One that wouldn’t hurt any group; one that would help all groups and people; one that would provide incentive for people to put aside their differences and work together toward a single goal. Hummmm…. what would be an example of such an idea?

How about getting off of our home planet and move out into the Stars?

A global effort to build generation ships would provide lots of employment. The workers would feel as if they were contributing to something larger than themselves.

It would encourage education because there would be a REASON for it other than to just “get a job, work your whole life, then get old and die.”

It would give people something that could UNITE them despite their differences.

And most importantly, it could provide a psychological pressure relief valve for the “too many rats in a cage” issue.

So… why and why not? Can you think of a better way to spend the planet’s resources?

  1. My Dad, who died last October – in his early 90’s – spent the marjority of the First Act of his career racing for space. His project sent the first mouse into space — he named that mouse on the fly, after one of the few female reporters who asked, during a Press Conference: Wiki – (practically prophetic, huh?)

His Second Act was spent as Congressional Liaison, attempting to educate Congress on the import of The Space Program – by FAR the tougher task, with less success (perhaps the understatement of this decade). Educating Congress is practically an oxymoron (who needs information when he has already formed an opinion?).

THAT’s the fly in your ointment – getting buy in from the top. If you can figure THAT one out, I’m voting for YOU for President.
